Why It Matters

Every Defect Living
in Your Clear Coat.

The Space Coast is paradise for boaters, RV owners, and vehicle enthusiasts alike, but salt air, intense UV rays, humidity, algae, and constant exposure to the elements can take a toll on your investment every single day. Whether you own a boat, RV, motorhome, car, truck, SUV, or trailer, regular professional detailing is not a luxury. It is an essential part of protecting your investment, preserving its appearance, and helping prevent long-term damage to paint, gel coat, trim, upholstery, and exterior finishes.

Swirl Marks

Fine circular scratches caused by improper washing technique, automated car washes with abrasive brushes, and dry wiping. Under direct sunlight or shop lighting they appear as a spider-web pattern across your paint. Florida’s sandy, salt-gritty environment makes swirl marks extremely common on Brevard County vehicles.

Water Spots

Hard water mineral deposits that etch into the clear coat surface when water evaporates. Florida’s high mineral content in irrigation water and frequent afternoon rain showers followed by intense sun make water spots a persistent problem. Light spots clean off; etched spots require machine correction.

Love Bug Etching

Love bug splatter is acidic and begins etching the clear coat within 24 to 48 hours in Florida’s heat. Brevard County sees two lovebug seasons per year. Etching still within the clear coat layer is correctable through machine polishing. The faster it is addressed after the season, the more likely a full correction is achievable.

Light Scratches

Single-direction scratches from keys, branches, parking lots, or careless washing that live within the clear coat. Scratches that reflect light differently than the surrounding paint but do not catch a fingernail are typically correctable. We measure paint thickness before quoting to confirm how much material is safely available to work with.

Our Process

Every Step Matters.
None Get Skipped.

Paint correction done right is a systematic process, not a shortcut. Every step below protects the paint and guarantees the correction holds.

1

Paint Thickness Measurement

A paint thickness gauge is used on every panel before we start. This tells us how much clear coat is available to work with and whether correction is safe on every surface.

2

Wash & Decontamination

Full wash followed by iron decontamination and clay bar treatment to remove bonded contaminants. You cannot correct paint through contamination.

3

Panel Inspection

Defects are assessed panel by panel under direct lighting. This determines which stage and which compound or polish combination is appropriate for each area.

4

Machine Polishing

Stage-appropriate pads and compounds are applied panel by panel using a dual-action or rotary polisher. Each panel is wiped down and inspected between passes.

5

IPA Wipedown

Isopropyl alcohol wipedown removes all polish oils from the surface, revealing the true corrected paint with no masking from filler agents.

6

Final Inspection

Full-vehicle inspection under direct lighting confirms all targeted defects are addressed. If this is a pre-coating job, the surface is immediately ready for ceramic coating application.

Paint Correction & Ceramic Coating

Always Correct Before You Coat.

If you are considering ceramic coating, paint correction is not optional, it is the first step. Here is why it matters.

Without Paint Correction First

You Seal the Defects In

Ceramic coating creates a hard, semi-permanent layer over whatever condition the paint is in when it is applied. Swirl marks, water spots, and oxidation haze do not disappear under a coating, they are locked in permanently under glass. Removing a ceramic coating to address defects underneath is significantly more expensive and time-consuming than correcting the paint before coating in the first place.

With Paint Correction First

You Seal Perfection In

Paint correction done before ceramic coating means the coating locks in maximum gloss, depth, and clarity. The hydrophobic and UV-resistant properties of the coating then protect that corrected surface for years, dramatically slowing the rate at which the paint degrades and reducing the need for future correction work. This is the correct order of operations and the investment that pays back over the full life of the vehicle.

Wax Over Defects

Temporary Masking Only

Standard wax and many paint sealants contain fillers that temporarily mask swirl marks and light scratches by filling them with product. This looks good immediately after application but the effect fades within weeks as the filler washes out. The underlying defects remain untouched. Paint correction removes the defect entirely, no filling, no masking, no fading result.

Paint Correction Result

Permanent Defect Removal

Machine polishing physically levels the clear coat surface, removing the material around a defect until the surface is uniform and smooth. The result is permanent. No product fades, no filler washes out, and the gloss achieved through proper correction is the genuine optical depth of your paint’s clear coat, not a layer of something sitting on top of it. When properly maintained and protected, corrected paint stays corrected.

Service Area

All of Brevard County.
Your Location. Your Schedule.

Space Coast Mobile Detailing service area covers all of Brevard County and surrounding areas for mobile paint correction, from Titusville in the north through Cocoa, Merritt Island, Rockledge, Viera, and Melbourne all the way south to Palm Bay and Satellite Beach. We work at your home, your office, or any location with reasonable vehicle access.

Paint correction requires a shaded area or garage access to work in, direct sunlight makes it impossible to accurately assess defects and affects product performance. That’s why we bring the shade with us in the form of a canopy, so don’t worry about the time of day or your location.

About Space Coast Mobile Detailing

The Space Coast Standard for Mobile Paint Correction

Space Coast Mobile Detailing is a veteran-owned, 100% mobile detailing company based in Cocoa, Florida, offering professional multi-stage paint correction throughout all of Brevard County. We bring dual-action and rotary machine polishers, a full pad and compound selection, a paint thickness gauge, dedicated lighting, and all supporting equipment directly to your location, no shop, no drop-off, no waiting.

Paint correction on the Space Coast is not the same job as paint correction in a climate with milder UV, no love bug seasons, and no coastal salt air. The defect types and defect rates that Brevard County vehicles accumulate are distinct, and the approach needs to match. Our assessment process accounts for the specific damage patterns common to Florida vehicles: UV oxidation haze building from the roof and hood out, love bug acid etching concentrated on front fascias and hoods, water spot patterns from irrigation overspray on lower panels, and swirl mark accumulation from the high wash frequency that Florida’s road conditions demand.

We offer 1-stage & 2-stage and stage 3 paint correction with the stage selected based on a paint thickness measurement and panel-by-panel defect assessment before we quote a single dollar. Every job ends with an IPA wipe down and full inspection under direct lighting. If we are following the correction with a ceramic coating application, we move directly to coating prep immediately after the final inspection to ensure no contamination reaches the corrected surface.

Frequently Asked Questions

Paint Correction Questions, Answered.

The questions Space Coast vehicle owners ask us most before booking a correction.

Paint correction is the process of removing surface defects from a vehicle’s clear coat using machine polishing. It permanently eliminates swirl marks, light scratches, water spots, love bug etching, bird dropping etching, and oxidation haze, restoring genuine gloss and depth to the paint that washing and waxing cannot achieve.

1-stage uses a single polishing pass for light defects and gloss enhancement. 2-stage adds a compound step before the polish to address deeper scratches and swirl patterns, the most common level for Brevard County vehicles. 3-stage adds a heavy-cut compound as the first step for severe oxidation, deep defect patterns, or paint that has been heavily neglected. The right stage is determined by paint thickness measurement and defect assessment before we quote.

Paint correction removes defects within the clear coat only. If a scratch catches your fingernail, has penetrated to the base coat, or reached bare metal, it cannot be corrected by polishing and requires touch-up paint or a respray. We use a paint thickness gauge on every panel and give you an honest assessment of what is and is not correctable before we start any work.

Yes, if the etching is still within the clear coat layer. Love bug splatter is acidic and etches clear coat within 24 to 48 hours in Florida’s heat. Etching confined to the clear coat is correctable through machine polishing. Damage that has eaten through to the base coat requires touch-up paint. The sooner post-season correction is done, the more likely a full result is achievable.

Yes, always. Ceramic coating locks in whatever condition the paint is in when it is applied. Swirl marks, water spots, and oxidation sealed under a coating are permanently visible and significantly harder to address after the fact. Paint correction before ceramic coating ensures you are protecting perfect paint, not preserving defects under glass.

Yes. Space Coast Mobile Detailing is 100% mobile. We bring all equipment directly to your location anywhere in Brevard County. Paint correction does require access to a shaded area or garage which we do bring ourselves (canopy) since we cannot work in direct sunlight. We discuss this when you book and work with your setup.

A 1-stage on a sedan typically takes 3 to 4 hours. A full 2-stage on a larger vehicle runs 5 to 8 hours. A 3-stage on a heavily defected vehicle may span multiple sessions. We give honest time estimates based on your vehicle size and condition before scheduling.

Swirl marks are fine scratches in the clear coat caused by improper washing technique, circular hand wash motions with dirty mitts, automated car wash brushes, and wiping salt or grit off a dry surface with a cloth. Florida’s sandy, gritty coastal environment and the high wash frequency required make swirl marks one of the most common paint issues on Space Coast vehicles.
